The appliance repair company I use quoted me around $700 to procure and install the cooktop. Nearly half of what I paid for the stove. The chip did not impair the performance of the stove but it aggravated me. I got on-line to the Whirlpool website to find the part number. They did have a link to a parts site but further with investigation I found AppliancePartsPros. The price was about 30% less than other sites I found. Since I had the appliance repair company out for an issue with my refrigerator I had the repairman install the cooktop. Two phillips front screws - old top off and new top on in about 5 minutes. I have kept the old cooktop in case the new one gets damaged and I cannot find a replacement in the future. I would be very comfortable doing the switch out myself.
AppliancePartsPros will be my go to source for parts need for my appliances when I can determine what is needed. Great service, $8 flat shipping. Can't beat them!
