Scott R Appleton , WI June 23, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MSD2456DEQ Frost buildup on evaporator coils refrigerator too warm First, unplug the refrigerator, or turn off the circuit supplying the outlet. You'll be working near a wiring harness. Safety first! Next, remove the cover inside the top of the refrigerator cabinet. This can be tricky because of the clips in back on each side. I found a couple of videos on YouTube that described the repair process, and they were helpful at this step. I recommend keeping these handy throughout the process. Remove the light bulbs and set them aside. Next, remove the screws that hold the control panel (temperature settings), and remove the panel. Then, remove the 1/4" hex head retaining screws at the back near the water filter assembly. Finally, loosen the screws that hold the control assembly to the top of the cabinet about half way back. Slide it to the right to release it. Be very patient while you do this step so as to not damage the foam. It's helpful to consult YouTube here if you have any trouble. The thermostat control board is in the back right corner of the control assembly. Mine simply popped out. Disconnect the board, then plug in the new one and snap it back into place. Finally, reverse the steps to finish the repair. When reattaching the control panel make sure that the aluminum shield in the control assembly does not interfere with the control rods - they should move freely when the panel is attached. This repair isn't too hard as long as you're patient and work carefully. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers, Screwdrivers
