I had to fix it twice, as I fooled myself into thinking the rat was gone but it wasn't and it chewed through the new lines, too. I started installing 1/2" hardware cloth to compartmentalize the areas under the kitchen cabinets. This did push the rat under our electric range, where he managed to electrocute himself on the wires. The rat's demise we confirmed after he started to smell. The good news, now we could re-install the dishwasher with confidence it would stay installed. We started a new habit of making sure pet dishes are closed at night, I think that may have been what attracted the rat to come in through the pet door. The 12' drain hose we bought from appliancepartpros.com could not be found at our local hardware or big box home improvement stores, so it was great to find it, order for a reasonable price and get it in two days. Thanks, guys!
