How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6009129 / WP40113801 Dryer High Limit Thermal Fuse

I replaced the thermal fuse, following the instructions in the video. It was difficult to reach and remove it on this model; I had to take off the whole front panel, but with some effort was able to remove the fuse without removing the whole drum. I wasn't sure if the fuse would turn out to be the problem, but the replacement worked! Unfortunately, I broke the door switch during disassembly (should have used a thin screwdriver to detach the wires) and then had to replace that too. 

I only found the thermal fuse was blown. Since the dryer was not turning off on its own, I went ahead and replaced the controller and the high temp switch. The dryer is working as it should now. 

I replaced the belt and also tension pulley. Started up and no heat! So I replaced the thermal fuse & hi-limit fuse and the heating element. Still no heat so I ordered a thermistor. While waiting on the part I checked all the old parts and found that they were all good! When thermistor got here I called back to Appliance Parts Pros. I talked to Robin H and asked for a wiring schematic and she located and sent it to me. I checked the wires on the top for dryer and found that the wiring was wrong and had pulled loose when removing top. Rewired from diagram. Works perfect! I was able to return the thermistor, but not other parts. So always check everything before ordering parts you may not need! 

We replaced the relay 

With much-needed help, April, Vicky, and a couple of other fine ladies walked me through my problem. They guided my testing of the faulty parts with a 'multimeter tester'. what they advised was 'right on'! they diagnosed the faulty two parts and NOW, THE DRYER WORKS LIKE NEW AGAIN...AND a 'divorce attorney' will not be needed as my wife of 50+ yrs is happy--once again. My sincere thanks to all the wonderful ladies that helped me! lee p.s. you are my 'e-store' for the future. 

I ordered a new heating element and two other parts that attached to the heating element. I discovered a wire that broke off which caused the element not to work so I had to put a new female splicer on the broken wire then replaced the element and reattached the wires and everything worked. 

We did some quick research online and learned that this fuse was the most likely culprit. We ordered it here and it arrived in four days! Our dryer model required removing the front panel and drum. That seemed daunting but really wasn’t bad at all! I popped the fuse in and gave everything a good cleaning while I was in there. Everything is working great now!! 

Found model on dryer, located part, ordered part, received and installed. Please note that video that was also found on website was extremely helpful. 15 minute repair and drying clothes! 

Replaced fuse and thermostat. So far good. 

After watching the appliance repair videos my brother and I replaced the drum belt, tension pulley, and the rollers easily.
