Planetary gear and drive gear were damaged because of incorrect alignment. (probably caused by manually lifting the mixer bowl while the unit was running to get to the bottom ingredients!) Replaced both gears and reseated snap ring. Misc tools needed: The square head for screws and snap ring pliers. super easy repair!
