How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6011274 / WP74011768 Oven Door Handle

Ordered the correct part on-line and much to my surprise it arrived the next day. It was a simple and easy fix. The only tool needed was a screwdriver. Thank you Appliance Parts Pros for your prompt delivery. You are the go to place for appliance parts. 

My advice? Get husband out of the way, then watch a video and it will be fixed in no time! And you don't have to stand there handing him parts! 

Watch You Tube video. It saved all sorts of time & answered questions. There were no instructions in box and I wasn't sure how to disassemble door. 

Just had to remove a few screws and replaced easily. Even had time clean the interior glass. Looks like new. Perfect match. 

Removed the door and installed the new handle. 

Installed a new door handle. 

I had to disassemble the oven door to access the screws holding the handle inplace. It was easy, first had to remove the glass window from the door, 2 screws for that, and it slides out. Then its just a matter of getting to the 2 screws that hold the handle in place. reassembly was just as easy. Did not have to take to oven door off of the oven, thank you Mr Oven Designer. 

I bought a new handle, which was easy to find on the web site by entering the range's model number. I looked at the Maytag Youtube video which clearly demonstrated the process of installation. I appreciated that none of the video was fast-forwarded because that gave me an accurate sense of time that would be involved. 

Bought new handle!! 

I removed the broken handle to see if I could repair but it was not possible. Ordered a new handle arrived in 3 days and replaced the handle. The repair requires that you disassemble the door to got to the mounts holding the handle. Then you attach the new handle and assemble the door. I recommend taking pictures of the step by step disassembly process so you can have a reference during the assembly process.
