How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013082 / WP8541818 Heater Box

My whirlpool dryer is 16 years old and some rust started to form on the screen of the heater box. Appliance parts pros had the lowest price and lowest shipping. Once you take the back panel off the dryer it's straight forward for most brands. Take the heater element box and thermostat off the heater box, then take all the screws out holding the heater box to the dryer. Whole thing will take an hour start to finish by the time you start pulling the dryer out from the wall. 

We ordered the new part and my husband installed it and it is working fine. 

Watched the DIY video on AppliancePartsPros website. Ordered the heater box. Installed it. 

Replaced it using your how to video very very easy in and out in 30 minutes. 

Removed back panel and a few screws. We took out the old box and replaced it with the new one. Element did not need replacing. 

New one. 

Unplugged dryer, removed back, disconnected wires to heating element. removed screws that held heating element to box, and opened top lid to get at screw that held the strap at the top of the heater box. Pushed box out of rear of drum and installed new heater box in reverse order od removing. 

Maytag Centennial Dryer. Pop the top, take off the back. Unscrew attachments and pull the heating elements and electrical connector toward the top (thermostat?). Remove old tube and replace with new, tightening all screws. (Top screw for bracket has to be removed from the front through the opened top.) Re-attach dryer back and push down the top. Took me an hour total. 

There was some confusion about the right part #. Once I got the right part. My mothers 13 year old dryer is good as new. 

Replaced the heater box containing the vent into the dryer.
