Shang S Bedford , VA January 14, 2022 Appliance: Maytag Top Loading Washer LAT2500AAE Agitator floating up shaft coming out of transmission. Not one to patch a job, I ordered all seal kit, bearing kit, new shaft keeper, transmission oil, spanner wrench. I have the newer version of the agitator shaft so it does not have the groove for the internal clip. I Custom ground a thick washer so that as the agitator shaft goes into the transmission it fit flush into the slot for the old style shaft clip. With the plastic keeper in position I marked and pull the shaft. I drilled a hole that would be fit tight against the custom washer and used an eight penny nail bent around the shaft as a permanent internal keeper. The agitator shaft will not come out of the transmission again. Jose Benjamin Z Doral , FL May 24, 2021 Appliance: Model MAYTAG Agitator loose with damaged seal water enter in the transmission damage the pinion gear. American appliances are very easy to fix in comparison to imported ones. Just open the washer and take de transmission cover out change the pinion inside removing a simple retainer. In the agitator there is a screw that you loosen it take it out, then de tub and take the shaft out and put a new seal and a new c clamp and reinstall everything back. Top-loading washers are very easy to fix in comparison to front-loading washers that are very difficult to fix. Read More...
