How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3115288 / 675382 On/Off Rotary Switch Kit

Replaced the large plastic drive gear, the old one (22 yrs old) had broken into two pieces. 

I placed the order for a new switch, and it arrived the next day. I replaced the switch with the new one and it worked the way it should. 

Replaced the rotary switch.

The rotary switch was a little expensive but was easy to install and did the trick. There are other switches in the compactor that limit the ram operation, so make sure you are getting the right switch for the problem. The spring on the old on and off switch broke and would not return to stop and the compactor kept running until you manually returned the switch. Very east repair that saved getting a new one or expensive technician. 

Replaced the Rotary Switch which took care of the problem. Thank you for getting the part to us fast and my wife thanks you too. 

Bought the new Rotary Switch and installed it. 

Ordered replacement switch from AppliancePartsPros.com and replaced the faulty switch. 

I followed the instruction on the video, it was super easy! 

Bought new unit including the switch. Watched video then replaced the unit. Installation went exactly as the video showed and the compactor works perfectly!
