I removed the kick plate and exposed the spring/cable mechanism. Ordered 2 new cables and replaced both, as recommended by AppliancPartsPros. The cable slips on to a stud on the hinge
Attach one side and stretch the springs to allow attachment o the second cable. Reattach the kickplate and job is finished. Easy!.
