I got my washer for free at a yard sale when I bought the dryer. The computer seemed to work fine, but when I hooked it up, the cycle wouldn't start (no water, no drum movement, but no immediate error code either). I guessed from a little research that the issue might be the Spider Flange shaft, as that seems to be a major problem with this brand..
I watched the 2 repair videos for the flange and tub seal on the APP web site. My washer is a different model but the videos were still very helpful and provided enough direction for me to disassemble my machine and confirm the problem. I then ordered the parts (which arrived in 2 days), installed them as per the videos, reassembled the washer, and voila! Along the way I noticed that the washer tub drain hose was packed solid with powder, like cement, so I flushed all the hoses and cleaned the tub assembly. Also, the 6 spider bolts that secure the flange to the wash tub were locked tight. I stripped the head off one, ruining a 10 mm socket, and had to use a blowtorch to remove the bolt. A little patience and WD40 loosened the other 5. Lesson learned.
The whole process took about 6 hours, with a part-time assistant for lifting and smart alack feedback. The hardest part, other than dealing with the stripped spider bolt, was lifting the tub assembly in and out of the housing, and attaching the four shocks.
I also recommend getting organized before you start. You'll be removing a lot of screws and bolts. Have some baggies and a sharpie ready, along with bin, to organize every thing. Also, be sure to take pictures before you unplug any wires or hoses, so you know how everything goes back together. It's pretty obvious what goes where, but just in case... Keep a check list as you break it down, and follow it in reverse order when you put it all back together again.
Good luck!
