Do-It-Yourself Story

The repair was very easy. First, slide out and unplug (of course) the stove. Then remove screws on side to be able to lift stove top up. Carefully unplug 2 wire harnesses then top came right off. Laid on its top on carpet to unscrew burners. Took picture of old top before I removed anything so I would have reference for new, including how wired were laid. Had new top on its face and needed second person to help carry 4 burners which were all attached. It was straight move from old top to the new. Then fasten the burners to the new top, loosely at first to make sure of proper placement and being careful of wire placement (nothing pinched or in the way). NOTE: there were black pads on old top that were hard to see at first but I carefully peeled off and put on new (almost forgot them). After burners all reattached and secure, carefully (2 people) lifted back onto stove, attached wire harnesses and laid into place. Then reattached screws, plugged in, turned on each burner briefly to make sure they all worked, then slid stove back into final place. A flashlight was helpful to check things since it is black stove/top. New top works perfectly!
