First, I replaced the thermostat which did not fix the problem. I fabricated a short 1/4" nut driver using a drilled golf ball and JB Weld to get into the tight spot. The screw had a bit of corrosion.
Next, I replaced the oxidized and crumbling Blower Wheel Assembly using the AppliancePartsPros.com replacement. The C-clip retaining ring and spring compression collar were a challenge to replace without the proper tools but achieved. Once reassembled the ancient Maytag Dryer worked like a champ.
