I tried to turn the stem using pliers but that didn't work. I started looking at new clothes dryers but my brother in law told me it's possible to just replace the knob. I searched online and found AppliancePartsPros.com, entered the appliance model number, and easily found the knob for just over $8.00. A new dryer with delivery would have been 100 times that amount. The part arrived in just 2 days, I snapped it into place and voila! problem solved!
