After reading comments on Appliance Parts it sounding like the problem was in the switch. Watched the video concerning replacement and ordered and replaced the 8" burners infinite switch (part#AP2024072).
My stove is a slid-in so access to the switch was from the front panel instead of the back as shown in the video. (Just took a little longer to find all the screws to remove the front panel, LOL!)
