After doing research I discovered the issue usually isn’t the latch needing repair, but rather the main control board needs to be replaced. Sure enough I ordered a new control board which was easy enough to install (plug and play), and it solved the problem immediately. There are videos on YouTube that show you exactly how to replace this part.
