Replacing the lid latch assembly was a quick fix. Removed the old parts and replaced with new and did not even have to unhook the water supply as the rear panel comes off over the top of the connectors. Your video showing the 2 screws in the back panel allowing the top to be slid forward and up showed me how Amana secures their lids.
Local repair shop wanted $150.00 for the part PLUS INSTALLATION. I got the part delivered to my house for under $50 and the repair took less than an hour.
FYI this assembly is made of plastic and i had disassembled the original latch assembly and found the actuator for the lid lock switch was broken off. This washing machine will not let you cheat the door lid closed/locked as the logic wants to see the door lock and unlock so replacement was the only option.
