One day our gas dryer stopped heating up. I checked the exhaust ducting. I unplugged it hoping for a magic reset of some kind. That seemed to work. We had heat. But it happened again. No heat. After checking and ruling out the usual causes of “no heat”, it occurred to me there may be an issue with the timer/cycle dial. By chance, I realized I could get the burner to fire by pushing on the dial. I could hear something being actuated down by the burner. So I ordered a new timer/cycle assembly. Installing it took 5 minutes. Diagnosing the issue on my own took me several hours. I did not see this issue addressed during my online search efforts. Hopefully this might save someone else some time, frustration and unnecessary part replacement.
