Originally the problem was diagnosed by the repair company. He ordered the high-limit thermostat. After the part was received the repair company. informed me that it would be a month before the technician would return!!!!
I did a Google search and found your nifty website and watched the video -- I am mechanically inclined and the very thorough explanations on the video made the job look pretty easy.
The dryer is 10 years old. Therefore I decided while I had it apart might as well change the belt.
Once I got the belt I watched the video and did it step-by-step for both disassembly and reassembly. The only difficult part was the electrical connections to the control panel. These did not come away easily and I did not want to strain the wires. Be prepared to do a lot of cleaning and vacuuming to get rid of all the lint. Found a desiccated mouse in the dryer vent tube -- yuck!
Got the new thermostat installed and the new belt. Put it all back together.
Only stupid thing: I had drawn a wiring diagram on the control panel plugs. I put this paper on top of the drum. Of course, it fell off the drum and into the bottom requiring a bit of disassembly to retrieve.
Dryer back working order. Hooray !
