My door switch had been faulty for quite some time but I felt that it was the thermal fuse that blew so I got both parts to resolve the problem..
Years ago I replaced the thermal switch. The cause was the accumulation of lint inside the dryer. If I had been proactive and vacuumed out the lint, I probably would not have blown the fuse.
In my case with Maytag LDE8416ACE, I didn't really need to remove the door as the front panel comes off by just removing the 2 screws at the bottom and lifting it out and up.
The door switch took maybe 30 seconds to remove and replace with the new one. The thermal fuse took a bit longer but was so simple to replace.
And while I had the panel off, I sprayed some WD40 on the roller "bearing" and bought some appliance touch-up paint to fill in the paint chips on the top of the panel. Now the dryer works like a dream and looks brand new.
Thank you for having these parts for us, I have repaired several appliances in the past years thanks to you!
