I had an incident where a full and heavy box of Borax had fallen against the timer, and after that it didn;t work right, but I found that if I wedged a piece of cardboard of a plastic "make-do-disk" at the dial gap I could get it to run.--(ONLY AFTER I made CERTAIN that there was no build up of lint in dryer duct--wanted no fire hazard!)
Eventually that didn't work. Between what I knew, what I read, and what I discussed with the "Live Chat" person I was certain it was the timer. I was also directed to a helpful VIDEO on the process. I did a dry run on the process and made sure the part # info on the "dead" timer matched the new one I wanted to replace.
Ordered the part, received the part, and had it installed in minutes. Tested it. Then I had to move appliances back in place and re-hang the room doors. Indeed, the re-hanging of the doors and moving appliances back into place took longer than replacing the part.
I found it very EASY for my skill set--I have repaired things before--and I had the necessary tools.
The new PART saved me a bunch on $! I couldn't afford the cost of a new dryer and was very glad I didn't go and borrow money against the relative low cost of the part and my own labor. Your part was identical to the "Genuine Whirlpool Parts" and saved me another $15 or so.
My one disappointment was that I paid for the standard Fed EX shipping and it did take a whole week. But when the part arrived it turned out it came from a warehouse about a 30 minute drive from my house! If I had a "Local Pick-Up option" I could have saved an entire week of a torn apart laundry room, and the shipping (though it would have cost me a little bit in gas to drive to the warehouse.)
The absolute worst part was removing my bi-fold doors and moving the appliances...because the BUILDER of our home BUTCHERED the framing and drywall and practically need a shoe horn to get those heavy appliances in place correctly.
I would do this again if I needed to. I would access info again and directions again from your site.
