Ordered new dual element. Took only 24 hours to get here.
Took stove apart and upon lifting the glass top we saw a wire that was burnt and broke apart with heavy corrosion. So that was probably the problem— not the element.
The new element did not come with wire but my husband had some and was able to sodder wire together.
The old element actually had 3 cracks in the stone circular edge so we replaced the entire element anyway.
Everything is back to working.
