After reviewing several websites on what the problem was, I cleaned out all the lint traps, inside and out, to make sure that a blockage wasn't causing the problem. When a bucketful of lint from inside the dryer was extracted and still no heat, I felt confident the the heating coil or thermostat had gone out. With model number in hand, I searched for the replacement part and found it here at the most reasonable price as it included both the coil and the thermostat. I paid extra for 2-day delivery and it arrived on time.
I unplugged the dryer, took the top off and carefully removed the old coil from the top back of the dryer, taping and identifying each wire as I disconnected it. Removing a couple of screws, I was able to lift out the bad unit and easily slide the new one in place. The thermostat was easily reattached, wires reconnected and I was back in business. This process took about 10 minutes and was far less difficult than moving and reconnecting the dryer vent. I saved a bundle in this home repair and look forward to many more years out of this dryer.
