Initially I thought the problem might have been a type of bearing but when I tried to move the drum forward and backwards there was no play. Therefore, I determined it must be the shocks. The machine being five years old probably had a little bit of wear on the shocks. I simply replaced all three. It didn't take too much disassembly. The machine runs quieter and more smoothly. I am sure that the replacement of the shocks helped to avoid any other problems that could have stemmed from excessive vibrations down the road.
