I had to cut off the electrical connection from both the new and old fans and splice the old connector onto the new fan. I used solder-less connectors and shrink tubing.
It works OK, but I should have been warned that the connector to the freezer would not match. A 15 minute repair/swap turned into an hour.
It was, however, the right size fan, and it did fit properly in place.
