After looking at other stories, slowly lifted the lid while listening and heard
nothing. Decided the lid switch wasn't working. Opened the switch section (two screws)
and noted that the lid switch showed signs of burning.
Ordered a new switch from AppliancePartsPros and it took about ten minutes to install
the switch and put the switch section back on.
Everything worked.
