Danielle V Midland , MI July 18, 2014 Freezer and fridge not cooling I took off the back panel on the inside of the freezer. I noticed that the evaporator fan (which circulates cold air through the freezer) was not working. Only the very bottom of the freezer was cold since that's where the cold air comes out. After testing the fan motor with a multimeter, which checked out fine, I figured it must be the defrost thermostat. The thermostat appeared to have gotten water inside it, as it was bulging when frozen and leaking when thawed. It was super easy to disconnect the wires and hook up the new thermostat. Now it's running great! 18 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
