The freezer recovered but the icemaker didn't. I researched the repair Q&A section at AppliancePartsPros.com and while I couldn't find an exact match of the symptoms that led up to my problem, I read enough to convince myself that my icemaker had bitten the dust and was irreparable. I then removed it and immediately noticed an "electrical burn" smell. I took the cover off the end which revealed it's circuit board and noticed a discolored component. I removed the board from the icemaker and found there was a dark brown burn on the back side where the discolored component was soldered. I ordered the replacement icemaker "kit" and installed it in less than a minute (secured with one screw and plugged it up). It began working immediately.
