I pulled the refrigerator out and removed the back panel at the bottom of the refrigerator to listen for the source of the clicking sound. The clicking sound occurred between periods of no sound. The clicking sound was coming from the run capacitor and the overload protection located on the side of the compressor. Both components were attached to each other. I replaced the run capacitor and overload protection and the refrigerator problems were resolved. Easy repair. The biggest challenge was the wire slots on the current run capacitor slots were in a different location from the replacement run capacitor. I had to figure out which wire went to which slot.
