After an internet search, the likely problem was a faulty "Element Switch.." I actually unplugged the stove and removed the switch (I did NOT disconnect the wires). I obtained the part number on the switch, disassembled it, observed that the contacts were highly degraded, reassembled the switch and reinstalled it back into the stove. This all provided confidence the SWITCH was faulty.
One switch on the AppliancePartsPros.com website (AP2591804) looked exactly like the switch in the stove except for the break-away shaft. This part had a top metal shroud that "clipped" the innards of the switch in place. This part was NOT the correct part even though the "Appliance Compatibility Tool" indicated it was.
I telephoned AppliancePartsPros.com and the associate was VERY KIND and HELPFUL. She researched the component and indicated the correct part was AP3885460. Note - the "Appliance Compatibility Tool" indicated THIS part was NOT the correct part AND it did NOT appear the same...but she assured me it was! I ordered the part.
The part arrived within a day or two. I again unplugged the stove, removed the switch from the stove frame (stove front screws) and this time, removed one lead at a time from the OLD switch to connect to the NEW switch. Both switches were labeled the same thus providing a 1:1 wire correspondence from old to new. A magnifying glass with a flashlight helped identify the wire labels on the back of each switch (my apologies I don't recall the exact nomenclature). The contact ID was part of the switch housing in the neighborhood of each contact. For example: "LH1" on the old switch went to "LH1" on the new switch. The switch was re-attached to the stove frame, the stove fully assembled, and finally plugged in.
The element now operated as desired. Hat's off to my AppliancePartsPros associate - she was GREAT! Thank you.
