My Maytag MFW9700sq1 washing machine drum locked up so upon opening the rear panel, black grease and water was evident. I stripped the drum free of all attachments and split the drum into its 2 halves. Slamming the rear half down on the protruding shaft, I freed the drum from the rear housing only to find that the inner bearing is larger than the rear and that the seal was bad. Then with a 1 1/4" bolt I drove the bearing out ( front and rear bearings drive out in OPPOSITE directions) along with the bad seal, I needed to order a inner bearing and seal also but still I saved quite a bit by doing this in depth repair myself, thanks AppliancePartsPros.com.
