I unscrewed the outer plastic door liner and saw that one of the door spring cables located at the bottom of the washer was broken. It was an easy fix as all I had to to do was remove the 2 springs (by hand) and install new cables which I bought on-line. This is an extremely easy job. I replaced both cables as I figured if one cable had broken the other was probably weak and would also break. Screwed the door liner back in place and the door now works good as new.
