Very easy to repair. This is a 23 year old dryer and the start knob had been replaced several times because GE knob was very thin, breakable, plastic. Important, first disconnect dryer cord from AC receptacle. Removed the screws on the back of the control panel and removed the sheet metal cover from the back. Removed the connectors from the back of the start switch. Rotated the switch assembly ccw and pulled switch out. Installed new switch, connectors and reassembled. I always buy my repair parts from Appliance Parts Pros. The new start switch knob is thicker plastic, much better than the previous GE knob!
