This was my mother's washing machine and she had a repairman come out to look. He said the controller board was malfunctioning and causing the machine to allow the clothes to partially spin during the agitation cycle, which is why they kept balling up. He said it would be $350 to fix. She paid him for his time and sent him on his way. I ordered the board and replaced it myself. It took maybe an hour, start to finish, and the machine operates fine now. In fact, it now makes beeping noises when turning the dials to each setting, which it did not do before. That made me wonder if the board wasn't faulty to begin with, especially since it failed in a machine only 2 years old. I found the job to be very easy, and believe most anybody could do it with a basic tool set from Walmart.
