Did some Google searches and most comments concerning this issue on LG stoves indicated the high temperature thermostat malfunctions when using the self cleaning function. This malfunction causes complete loss of power for the entire stove and locks the oven door. Since I wasn't completely sure if it was the thermostat or where it was for that matter, I called a service tech to troubleshoot the stove. He was able to determine it was the thermostat and further tested his findings by connecting the two wires together which were connected to the thermostat (thus bypassing the thermostat) which caused power to be restored to the oven. He told me his magic book indicated the cost to repair would be $175-$350 including the part. He provided the part number (also in the stove parts manual) and I went to AppliancePartsPros.com where the part was $2.75. The tech showed me where the thermostat was located and it took me 1 minute to replace it using only a flat head screwdriver. The tech mentioned it was NOT a good idea for folks to use the self cleaning option because if it doesn't blow the thermostat it may eventually fry the circuit boards behind the stove. Word for the wise....careful using the self cleaning function and clean it yourself ;). Appliance tech service charge $55.00, finding replacement part at AppliancePartsPros.com $2.75, replacing the thermostat myself and saving hundreds of dollars...priceless!! Well not really but way cheaper!
