I thought I was doing the right thing. Pinterest told me I could. But as I turned out while the caps of my burners did beautifully, the silver (painted?) part did not. Thankfully appliance parts pros had replacements in stock and my genuine GE parts arrived the next day! It was nice to limit my embarrassment to less than 24 hours this time....
