How to replace Gaskt, Freezer Door. New gasket. Thought it would be as easy as the video demonstration ('just slide the gasket in") but it wasn't. My unit is 16 years old, so the old gasket was really stuck in there. We were working on it while the freezer was on and cold, which made everything less flexible. The old foam required a lot of scraping - even when the crumbs of it came loose, they didn't necessarily come out of the gasket groove. My teenage son and I worked on this together, each with a flathead screwdriver for prying open the opening and a butter knife to poke the gasket into place. However, the repair was worth it, as the door closes now with a tight seal and no more ice accumulation. 1 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes
