Ordered a replacement ice maker. Fairly simple repair:
1. Loosen mounting screws (2) lift and pull and the ice maker will be free of the screws.
2. Unplug the ice maker by squeezing tabs on either side and unplug
3. Install replacement making sure to keep cord free of pinching. Plug in unit and you will hear the tabs click ensuring proper plug in.
4. Hang new ice maker on mounting screws and tighten screws. For mine I used a 1/4 nut driver.
5. For my ice maker i had to remove the front cover and turn the timing screw 1/2 turn counter clockwise to set the water timer. Replace cover (it just snaps on and off)
* The only other thing i did between step 2 and 3 was trim the water tube coming out from the fridge to the ice maker fill cup. I used a box cutter to trim just a small amount of plastic tube. The replacement ice maker fill cup was smaller than the original and the tube appeared to be butted up against the fill cup side. I did not want the water to splash out so i cut a bit of tube so the tube was centered over the fill cup area. FYI my refrigerator is a top freezer, not side by side.
