It was really quite easy. Shut off the power, remove the top back panel of the stove, remove a knob, remove 2 screws from the front, slide the damaged unit out and carefully move the wires from the old unit to the new, one at a time so that they are kept in order,slide the new unit in place, put the two screws in place and the knob, put the back cover on, slide stove back in place. turn power on. and test the burner. One should unplug the stove for this process. I just double checked to see that there was no errant electricity.
