I tried gripping the bulb base with needle-nose pliers but ended up gripping the brass lamp holder socket without getting it to release the bulb base. The bottom of the microwave is retained by about a dozen screws. I removed those and dropped the hinged pan so I could remove the lamp holder fixture. The next day I went to Home Depot and asked in electrical where the associate first suggested I replace the whole microwave unit; then he told me I could look up the part online. Your company was at the top of the search results. I quickly identified the part I needed and ordered it. It was delivered the next day and my little project went back together more quickly than the initial disassembly.
