I had to remove a metal panel at the bottom back of the freezer as well as a couple of shelf slides in order to get at a drain pan in the back. It was frozen solid, so I stabbed at it with an ice pick until I broke through, followed up by poking a coat hanger in the drain hole to clear as much as I could, then poured a little boiling water over it to follow up. After screwing it all back together, the ice maker surprisingly was working again in less than 20 minutes. I also replaced a broken clip on the front of the fridge that was no longer holding the bottom grill properly. A screwdriver and an icepick and about half an hour of messing with it derailed the wife's plan to replace the whole unit.
