Removed old valve, installed new one. Maytag (classic washer probably 35 years old, still running great) designed this thing to last and to be easy to fix. No major disassembly required here, one screw to remove the valve and carrier from the outside of the machine, then two retaining screws, one hose, couple electrical push-on connections. Easy-peasy.
