Analysis of the issue centered on the cold water valve or the system board. Or we could have called an appliance repair shop spending $500+ (est). After a call to AppliancePartsPros.com and a discussion with an advisor, we agreed the likely issue was the cold water valve. We had replaced the hot water valve 6 months ago. I ordered the part on Wednesday and it arrived on Thursday via standard shipping, amazing! The how-to videos explained this repair and 60 minutes after the part was opened the washer was running properly with a new valve.
The cold water valve failed slowly and we became accustomed to the sounds of the washer using “lots” of water. Now, the washer is back to being efficient and quiet.
