Do-It-Yourself Story

I was cooking something directly on the rack, and a piece of food fell through and started on fire. Two days later when I went to use the oven again, there was a loud poof sound, and all electrical went out on the oven/stove. We opened the back panel and the Hi limit switch had melted and was now in two pieces. It was obvious that it needed to be fixed, but it was difficult to find the correct part online. We finally found it, ordered it, waited for it to arrive. When it arrived, (the stove was unplugged) I replaced the Hi limit thermostat (or Hi limit switch as our diagram called it) and then plugged the stove back in. Nothing happened. I tried to turn a burner on, and the burner did NOT warm up, but the LED lights came on. Once I turned off the burner, the LED lights turned back off. When my husband came home, he turned off the breaker switch, turned it back on, and went back to trouble shooting....It worked. All power came back on. The burners heated up. The oven heated up. All the lights worked.
