Ralph C Alpine , CA January 25, 2015 Appliance: LG Washer WM1814CW Lg Washer Wm1814cw: Loud noise during spin cycle (tub bearings). How to replace Outer Tub Seal. Followed video on youtube, used a pressure washer to clean the inner and outer tub while they were out. The main differences between the video and my repair was the removal of the inner bearings. With my repair, I had to use multiple applications of penetrating oil over 20 hours to loosen the inner bearing. Ended up using a 1 1/2 inch bit from my demo hammer to with a rubber mallet to finally knock out the bearing. The other issue was reinstallation of the inner tub in the new bearings. It didn't drop in clean as the bottom of the spider gear was only 1/2 way out. Noticed that the gap around the gear was not uniform, so I deduced that one of the bearings was not seated all the way. So...I removed the seal and made sure they were down...couldn't really tell they moved any but they must have since the gap was more uniform. I still had to rotate the drum several times while leaning on it to get it to finally drop. Although this repair took a bit of time and had multiple steps. It was not difficult. BTW, I use an old cardboard egg crate to place the screws...one slot for each set of screws. Helps keep things organized. 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours
