Followed the recommendations posted here that the problem was with the door switches. Decided to order the 2 micro switches that are part of the door mechanism. After removing the top cover, noticed that one of the switches was the one failing, decided to replace both. Removing the switches required some delicacy. Put everything back together and the microwave is working fine. The r commendations were on point!
