I was able to remove the control panel by holding the broken screw bases with pliers, tho I had to unclip the latch from the panel from under the panel with a long screwdriver to get it off. Replacement was a breeze - the panel comes with a new ribbon connection, just pull off the old one and put on the new, then snap into place.
