The motor shaft was running out which destroyed the tension pulley and glazed the belt. I made a wider tension pulley with a couple timing belt bearings from automotive application (it was a rainy Saturday, and I was trying to dry towels) but the motor lacked the power to spin with the belt installed. I ordered a replacement belt and motor from these guys with two day shipping, and my dryer was running again by noon on Wednesday!
