The washer was making a high pitch noise when operating. I did notice the day before it was running fine. However, a piece was missing from a pair of tongues when I emptied out the machine a day before.
I found this website and learned about the chopper. After watching the chopper video, I took my kitchen aid machine down to the chopper. There was the metal piece. It was being cut up by the blades of the chopper.
I ordered the part from this company (arrived in 2 days) following the video instructions replaced the part and the machine is back to normal.
Clean out as needed also.
