It's easy to diagnose a shorted oven heating element, it had a small flame on the place where it went bad. The flame persisted until the circuit breaker was turned off; turning off the oven had no effect. AppliancePartsPros.com had the part in my hands in a few days. That was very helpful. It is noteworthy that the new heating element had a sticker on the same place that the original failed, so I expect this one to fail at the same location on the coil. Why not stick the label on the end of the element near the terminals rather than where the adhesive will smoke and probably damage a brand new heating element? The legal department wants us to add, turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the range before doing this easy fix. It is a good idea to replace the screws that hold the heating element while you are there as they have endured many heat/cool cycles.
